North & South jointly celebrated World Tourism Day to mark the theme “Tourism and Peace”

Ruhunu Tourist Bureau has organised an event to mark World Tourism Day 2024, in collaboration with Northern Province Tourism Bureau, to showcase blending of different cultures under the theme ”tourism and peace”. The event held on 13th October 2024 at Holuwagoda River Park from 2.00pm onwards. Display of varieties of food items and cultural events held at the site. Hon. Consul General of India in Hambantota Mr.Harvinder Singh participated as the Chief Guest and Secretary to the Chief Ministry of Southern Provincial Council Mr.Krishantha W. Mahendra and Accountant to the Northern Province Tourism Bureau Mr.T.Roy Julius participated as Guests of Honour.

On the invitation of Ruhunu Tourist Bureau, staff from Northern Province Tourism Bureau have participated at the event. Northern Province Tourism Bureau has taken steps to share the Northern culinary and cultural experiences to the visitors at Holuwagoda River park. Authentic food items prepared by ‘Ammachchi’ staff, provided to the visitors. Also performances of Barathanaddiyam also staged infront of huge spectators. Staff of NPTB distributed promotional materials regarding Northern Tourism to the audiences.
