Chief Minister’s Ministry of Northern Provincial Council has taken steps to develop tourism in Northern Province in a systematic way. Many development activities have been carried out in the entire province during the year 2016 by utilizing Provincial Specific Development Grant.
As such, a heritage tourism spot has been established at the Thiruvadinilai area which comes under the purview of Valikamam West Pradeshiya Sabha. This area is having important religious and heritage values. By considering these facts, a heritage tourism spot has been established by the Chief Minister’s Ministry of Northern Provincial Council. Rs. 2.95 Million was spent for this development work which include construction of washrooms, resting area and drinking water supply.
The new tourism spot was ceremonially declared open by the Hon. Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V.Wigneswaran on 05th February 2017. The ceremony was held at the site under the chairmanship of Secretary to the Valikamam West Pradeshiya Sabha with the participation of Hon. Members of Northern Provincial Council Mr.B.Kajatheepan Mrs. Ananthy Sasitharan and Mr.Vinthan Kanagaratnam. Chief Secretary Mr.A.Pathinathan, Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Ministry Mrs.V.Ketheeswaran and Commissioner to the Department of Local Government Mr.P.Kuganathan also participated at this inaugural ceremony.
