Attraction management committee meeting about Akkarai Beach

Attraction Management Committee meeting held at Vali East Pradeshiya Sabha

In order to restart tourism activities in Northern Province, several steps have been taken by the Ministry of Local Government and Tourism Bureau of Northern Province.

Tourism Attraction Management Committee will be established at each Local Authority to manage tourist attractions in an effective manner.

The first meeting has been organised at Valikamam East Pradeshiya Sabha, Puththur on 18th June 2020 with the chairmanship of Mr.S.Sivapala – Director Planning, Ministry of Local Government, Northern Province. Secretary to the Valikamam East Pradeshiya Sabha Mr.Y.Jaleepan, Technical Officers attached to the Valikamam East Pradeshiya Sabha and Jaffna Assistant Commissioner of Local Government Office and staff of Northern Province Tourism Bureau also participated at the meeting.

Discussion focused on several improvement activities which are to be carried out at Akkarai Beach and Nilavarai bottomless well attractions to give better services to the visiting tourists. It has also been decided to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Health Authorities for reopening attractions for tourists.
