It was one of the resting points in the journey of the sacred Buddha’s tooth relic to Anuradhapura during the 4th century AD reign of King Mahsen. Currently you'll be able to see the ruins of the Vihara which is marked by the outer wall and a few stone pillars. There are also a couple of steps you can see which is guarded by a balustrade and guard stone. Based on the ruins that are available now, it helps us to visualize the charming structure which once proudly stood strong here. From Vavuniya bus stand travel along Horowapadana road (A29) for nearly 4 km and then turn left to Madukantha Vihara. It is in the Vavuniya South DS Division.
