Forts in Mannar

Mannar Fort - This fort was built by the Portuguese in 1560. Later on this fort was used by Dutch in 1658 and then by British in 1795. The fort has four bastions. There is a moat around the fort for security purposes. The structure and size of the bastions here are different from those bastions in the Jaffna fort. It is near the Mannar bridge. It is in the Mannar town DS division.
